1. Basic Information

Name: Nervonic acid, also known as shark acid, chemical name is cis-15-tetracosenoic acid (tetracosenoic acid), the English name is Nervonicacid.

Molecular Formula: C24H46O2

Type: belongs to monounsaturated fatty acids, is a humanoid bioactive lipids.

2. The existence and source

Existence: Nervonic acid is usually found in the cerebral cortex and neuronal cell membrane of mammals, and also in breast milk.

Source: It is difficult for the human body to synthesize neurotic acid by itself, and it mainly relies on in vitro intake. Food sources include certain vegetable oils (e.g. soybean oil, olive oil) and animal foods (e.g. fish oil, beef, etc.). In addition, Neuronic Acid was first found to exist in the brain of sharks, hence the name.

3. Biological Activities and Functions

Promote brain development: Neuronic acid is essential for brain development and promotes healthy and normal brain development. It helps to repair damaged nerves in the brain, enhances the brain’s reaction speed, improves memory, and also enhances the ability to learn and think.

Lowering blood lipids: Neuronic acid has a regulatory effect on the amount of fat in the blood, removing cholesterol from the blood and expelling it from the body, thus reducing the incidence of cardiovascular diseases.

Preventing nerve damage: Neuronic acid is a core natural ingredient in the brain’s nerve fibers and nerve cells, which can repair and unclog damaged brain nerve fibers and induce nerve cell regeneration. It can also dissolve the necrotic tissues that block the channels and induce the nerve fibers to grow and divide themselves, thus protecting the health of the nervous system.

Prevent Neurodegenerative Diseases: A growing body of research has found that cerulean acid is linked to cognitive function and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. Supplementing neurotic acid intake may have potential benefits in the prevention and treatment of these diseases.
