Solubility: insoluble in water, soluble in alkaline water and hot water, soluble in hot ethanol, pyridine, dimethyl sulfoxide, dimethyl formamide, insoluble in ether.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chemical reaction: brown color when encountering ferric chloride, red color when reduced by magnesium and hydrochloric acid. It does not precipitate when carbon dioxide is passed in alkali solution.
